From the Classroom to Leadership: A Career Focused on Educational Excellence

Bobby Deetjen embarked on his career in the realm of education as a secondary social studies and special education teacher at Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth, Maine. His academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Special Education from the University of Maine at Farmington and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Maine. Transitioning from his initial teaching role, Bobby entered the world of Career and Technical Education (CTE) as an assistant director and student services coordinator.

 

Advocating for CTE: A Vision for the Future Workforce

Since taking on the role of Director/Superintendent of the Mid-Coast School of Technology in Rockland, Maine in 2019, Bobby has been a fervent advocate for CTE programming. His advocacy spans local, state, and national levels, reflecting his deep-seated belief that the future leaders of America’s workforce are currently in CTE schools nationwide. As the Vice President of the Maine Administrators of Career and Technical Education, he plays a pivotal role in shaping policy and practices that promote CTE in Maine.

Away from his professional duties, Bobby enjoys a fulfilling personal life. He is happily married to his wife Kate, and the couple is blessed with two children, Noah and Hannah. With a balanced approach to career and family, Bobby Deetjen is a role model for educational leadership and advocacy.
